Billing Process

BillingLabs' billing processes are structured in three key functional layers which are themselves broken down in three sub layers. Those three key layers focus on different object categories: Event, Subscription and Document.
There is no centralized orchestration between the sublayers as it would limit the scaling capability but instead each microservice knows exactly what is happening next as in a complete choreography.

Layer in charge of retrieving the event, the data, the consumption.

Normalization

Layer ensures first that the event received is in the correct format and unique.

Consolidation

Also call it ‘routing’ or ‘guiding’ this layer routes the event toward a subscription.

Rating

Launching on regular basis, the events are transformed into rated transactions.

Billing

This microservice is in charge of gathering all the rated transactions and applying subscription rules.

Taxing

The Article codes are defined in the system with their associated tax rate.

This microservice sorts the information toward many invoices

Invoicing

Generate a JSON file that is the image of an invoice and especially all the summaries you need on the invoice.

Editing

Generate a pdf and forward the pdf file to a store or within an email.
